Sensory Play

We’ve had some very successful sensory play lately. Our biggest success has been a big old pile of rice, lentils and chick peas. In a large baking tray or roasting pan, I poured some (from Costco sized bags) rice, lentils and chick peas. We added some funnels, measuring cups, muffin tins, other containers maybe add a few small dump trucks or cars a few little people…. and away we go. You have yourself quite the adventure land!

We try and only take it out 1-2 times a week so we don’t get bored of it when we do use it, but it’s a hit with both kids and we can get about 35-40 minutes of non stop play. I don’t know about you, but for me that is A HUGE HIT. We make this an outside activity so we don’t have to worry about clean up, as there can be a tendancy for those chick peas or rice grains to go flying 😀

Giant bag of Lentils $4.99, giant bag of chick peas $6.99, giant bag of rice $9.99. That was enough to fill two huge roasting pans and still have half about 4kg of rice leftover to use for actual cooking and eating.
